2008 Rally Information
The 2008 Cal 24 Rally will be held on June 13th, 14th and 15th, 2008.
Once again Mark Crane will be the Rallymaster and Tom Melchild will be President. As many of you know we tried some new things last year. Some of them worked well and others worked, well maybe not so well. Mark and I have certainly learned from the experience and there will be some changes again this year.
This year represents an important anniversary for the Long Distance Rally community. It was 15 years ago this year that the infamous Bite The Bullet Rally was held by Jan Cutler and Steve Losofsky of Reno BMW fame. For those of you unfamiliar it was probably the defining Rally for fun and frolic. We will be honoring that Rally this year in the Cal 24. In other words, this is really going to be fun.
The Start/Finish line will be in Dunnigan California. The exact location and hotel/motel details will be included in the Rally Pack that is sent out after your entry is received.
The entry fee for this year is $200 for a Single rider and $250 for a Couple entry. The entry fee includes the rally entry, rally shirt, banquet and door prizes. Entries will be limited to 70 riders, first come, first served.
Another big change this year is that the charity we are raising funds for is Polio Plus. Polio Plus is sponsored by Rotary International. This should make it easier for everyone's fund raising activities. You can check out the web site at: www.polioplusride.org . Bob Mutchler is a multi-time Iron Butt Rally participant and is excited about working with us this year. There will be a minimum donation of $50 per rider, ($100 per couple) to the center.
Once again the person who raises the most money for Polio Plus will receive Gift Certificate for their choice of Aerostich Riding Suits. That's right you can win your choice of a 1 piece or 2 piece Roadcrafter or Darien suit! Last year Alan Barbic one it with a donation of only $275. That is a $750 value for about 1/3 the price!
Registration is open as of December 1st, 2007.
Thank you for your interest in the Cal 24 Rally.
